On December 10, 2013, the National Assembly (NA) unanimously approved a resolution, which said that drone attacks were against the sovereignty of the country and should be stopped at once.
The resolution further stated that drone strikes were not only against solidarity of the country, but were also in brazen violation of the United Nations Charter and human rights.
Adept at creating mischief as a political party, Jamaat-e-Islami member NA, Naima Kishwar, had moved the resolution and the House accepted it unanimously.
Now by our own calculations furnished by the Ministry of Defense to the Senate, so far 317 drone strikes have taken place since 2008, killing 2,160 (97%) terrorists and 67 civilians (3%).
It appears that the death of 97% terrorists has perturbed our public representatives for the Taliban are ‘our own people’. The remaining 3% are probably not our own, because 45,000 such individuals have also been killed in terrorist attacks.
The NA never passed a resolution condemning the killers of 45000 of our own citizens.
While the NA also highlighted our sovereignty in the resolution, it never passed a resolution calling for the withdrawal of Chechen, Uzbek, Afghan, Chinese and Arab terrorists from our tribal areas, violating our own sovereignty.
While the NA focused on our solidarity, it never passed a resolution condemning the ‘hidden forces’ and the ‘deep state’ responsible for playing havoc with our solidarity in Balochistan, interior Sindh, FATA, parts of KPK, Northern areas, AJK and metropolis Karachi.
Finally, while the resolution considered the drone strikes as a violation of UN charter and Human Rights, it never passed a resolution calling for the quick recovery of missing persons and bridling the secret agencies.
Let us first clean our own house and eliminate the cause of drone attacks as passing such resolutions presents us as jokers and detractors before the whole world and not as credible, serious and mature individuals.
