My
mother has the biggest heart out of anyone I know. Despite various
tragedies that have happened throughout her life she has always believed
in putting other people first. Her mother passed away when she was
young, and from that day on she immediately assumed a motherly role for
her 3 brothers and father. Growing up poor in inner city Milwaukee she
did not have much and had to work for everything she wanted, but she
always managed to keep a positive attitude. This optimistic attitude and
motherly nature still is part of her personality to this day.
My mother has worked several different jobs in her life, all centered on helping other people. When I was really young she was a police officer. After a decorated career, she decided that she wanted to help people before the police had to get involved. This prompted her to start several programs working with after school programs, summer camps, programs concerned with at truant/ at risk students, and programs to help minorities in our area find jobs. Recently she has spent several years helping women that are in abusive situations by providing legal information to them (how to get restraining orders etc..) or just being someone to talk to. I believe that she was put her on earth to help a person, that is what she loves to do, and she has been a guardian angel to many people.
My mother has always put herself second. She always has supported my father in all of his interests in life, which opened the door for him to be the great father he was. Also, she supported my brother and the other troops while he was serving in the military. After, he got back she was there for him every step of the way. Slowly, she helped him get on track to having a good career and getting married. This whole time while my father was traveling or my brother serving, all she every worried was about my father's happiness or brother's safety. Despite all of these tough times, she was truly the best mom a family could as for.
Despite the fact that she never puts herself first, she deserves it more than any one. Her non materialistic manner should be an inspiration to all and is something that I admire greatly. While I admit that I probably put too much value on name brand clothes or some of the other finer things in life, my mother is the complete opposite. She is perfectly content living a modest lifestyle, which allows her to maximize the amount of support she can give to other people. She will never understand why a shirt is worth 50 dollars, because of a name. To her a less expensive shirt looks just as good, and gives her extra money to spoil her kids with or donate to some foundation.
Words can't even describe how great my mother has been to me. My mother has been a caring mother for all of my 21 years. She has fully supported me in everything I do. Be it sports, women, or my education, my mother always has been there me. Along with that she has provided me with everything I have ever wanted and then some. She has worked very hard to make my life as good as possible, and has succeeded in this several times over. Not only do I have every material thing that I need/want, I know that my mother loves me unconditionally. Even the sound of her voice is reassuring after a long day. She never hesitates to tell me how much she loves me and that she's proud of me. With her goofy and loving personality she always knows how to make me smile on my toughest days. Also, I believe she has instilled in me a strong desire to help people, which has made me a better person. I can say from the bottom of my heart that I wouldn't be half the man I am today without her in my life.
My mother is a beautiful person inside and out. Her caring personality radiates wherever she goes. Countless lives are bettered because of her. Her smile is as heartwarming as the summer sun. I just hope every now and then she puts herself first, because she deserves it. My mother is a saint, a guardian angel to many, and my hero. Love you mom.
